Refurbished 456s in service in quantity
By April 2015 South West Trains had sufficient refurbished 456s to deploy them in quantity, initially in the peaks, but then all day service. Whilst initial entry to service had been to make up ten car peak workings, wider deployment saw them in pairs in eight car workings, replacing class 455s away on overhaul. A reminder - as the new "call for aid" system has been activated on the 456s they can only work in multiple with 455s that have also had their system activated, which leads to a small pool of class 455s regularly working with refurbished 456s. On 10th June 2015 Colin Duff ventured to south west London to record mid-morning to lunchtime off peak workings. |
