Bachmann class 170 South West Trains - click here to view larger picture Bachmann's Class 170 models, again whilst not part of their super-detailed "Blue Riband" range, can be described as drop-dead gorgeous!  In two car versions, as with South West Trains, the eight wheel flywheel drive is in one driving car.  170301 appeared in 2001, a second version, 31-452A, 170302 appeared in 2004.

In 2005 Bachmann produced a special limited edition version for Modelzone  - a Southern 171.  It appeared just in time for Christmas!  The paintwork is again of very high quality, though the lighting on the cab fronts in incorrect for a late version 170/1.  The dummy coupler on these models is a bit indeterminate so it was not changed for this model - the model coupling is neither an accurate representation of a   BSI nor Dellner coupler!
