Class 375 Refurbishment Update Autumn 2015
The first four car to be refurbished (375617) finally made it back to Ramsgate on 31st October after a diversion via Bombardier Ilford owing to wheelset damage sustained in the Harrow and Wealdstone area whilst coming south from Derby. (below) 375617 was in service on 4th November working 13:10 Charing Cross - Ramsgate, seen here approaching Tonbridge. This was its first day back in service. photograph by Colin Price |

photograph by Colin Price (above) The second four car to be refurbished, 375605, being hauled through Bickley on 3rd November on the way from Acton Lane to Ramsgate. The convoy was hauled by 56104 with 31452, a translator, then 375605. As there is only one translator on this train it is speculated that there may have been a defect on the other which caused the flats whilst 375617 was being delivered. The translators are known to be temperamental. Talking of temperamental, the Class 56 was added to the front of this train owing to an AWS fault on 31452. (below) The return trip to Derby on 4th November consisted of 56104 hauling 31452 and 375620 on the 13+53 Ramsgate - Derby, seen here passing through Headcorn. With only the one translator there was no option of going back via Chatham! photograph by Chris Livings |
