Track Relaying at Wimbledon

photograph by James Dixon A major track relaying project at Wimbledon resulted in significant alterations to South West Trains services during the last four weekends of January 2015. Suburban services normally via Wimbledon , required, for at least part of their journey, bustitution and main line services were diverted via Egham and Chertsey. (above) can be seen the extent of the work at West Wimbledon on 10th January. (below) 159021 off its normal route on a Waterloo to Exeter St. David's servce is about to overtake a down suburban working by a Class 455 at Wandsworth Town on 10th January. photograph by James Dixon |

photograph by James Dixon (above) Wandsworth Town looking towards Clapham Junction on 10th January, and traffic is defintely busier than on a normal Saturday. 8012 on a Reading to Waterloo working is to be expected, freight is also to be expected, in this case GBRf 66759 on a Mountfield Sidings to Southampton Western Docks working - 14 minutes late, but 450545 with a Basingstoke service is of its normal beaten tracks. (below) 5860 plus another unidentified Class 455 stops at Wandsworth Town on 10th January whilst on a service to Shepperton, reversing at Kingston rather than taking the regular route via the northern chord at Strawberry Hill. photograph by James Dixon |
