GB Railfreight Class 73/9 down south
![]() |
(above) GB Railfreight's "new" Class 73/9 locomotives finally came to their spiritual home, the south, with 73961 and 73962 arriving at Tonbridge West Yard in the early hours of 12th February 2015, where they are pictured once it was daylight. Later in 2015 a dedicated fleet of six, 73966 – 73971, will be working on diesel power only in Scotland hauling the new Caledonian Sleeper. As a consequence this sub-fleet will have larger fuel tanks and uprated ETH. (below) Four days later the pair were out in persistent drizzle on what is thought to be their first day at work, seen arriving at Tonbridge in failing light. photographs by Colin Price |

(below) On 10th June 2015 Colin Price captured all of the then four GBRF's "Intrastructure" 73/9s in Tonbridge West Yard. Unfortunately they are not quite in numerical order, with them being stabled 73962, 73962, 73961 and then 73964 on the end! |
