GB Railfreight Class 73/9 down south

73961 and 73962 at Tonbridge West Yard on 12th February 2015

(above) GB Railfreight's "new" Class 73/9 locomotives finally came to their spiritual home, the south, with 73961 and 73962 arriving at Tonbridge West Yard in the early hours of 12th February 2015, where they are pictured once it was daylight.

Later in 2015 a dedicated fleet of six, 73966 – 73971, will be working on diesel power only in Scotland hauling the new Caledonian Sleeper. As a consequence this sub-fleet will have larger fuel tanks and uprated ETH.

(below) Four days later the pair were out in persistent drizzle on what is thought to be their first day at work, seen arriving at Tonbridge in failing light.
