Haywards Heath 175th Railway Anniversay
(top) A tile mosaic by the ticket barriers in the station marking the anniversary and twinning of Haywards Heath with Bondues in France and Traunstein in Germany. (below) Another major event was a model railway exhibition at the Dolphin Leisure Centre. Our stand is located along the rear wall in the centre of this view, though it would probably have been better received at the station. |
(above) The Southern Electric Group stand was jointly run with that of the Network SouthEast Railway Society. (below) 2016 is also the 30th anniversary of the foundation of Network SouthEast. The Network SouthEast Society's celebratory headboard is fixed to the front of 1001 for one of the later trips to Ardingly. |
photograph by John Shepherd (above) The "Ardingly Arrow" railtour ran back to Hastings first via Brighton, then with a fast run to Victoria. 1001 is pictured here at Brighton carrying the Network SouthEast Society's headboard on its other cab. (below) 1001 at Brighton awaiting its fast run Up to Victoria, thence a dropping-off journey back home to Hastings (St. Leonard's depot actually). |
