Haywards Heath 175th Railway Anniversay

175th anniversary tile mosaic
A1X steam locomotive Stepney on display in the station's Market Place forecourt

(top) A tile mosaic by the ticket barriers in the station marking the anniversary and twinning of Haywards Heath with Bondues in France and Traunstein in Germany.
(above) There were displays in the town around the station including a large contribution from near neighbour the Bluebell Railway which included A1X, popularly know as a "Terrier", steam locomotive "Stepney" in LBSCR colours. Whilst this is a very old type of locomotive construction of them as originally class A1 only commenced 31 years after the railway arrived in Haywards Heath.

(below) Another major event was a model railway exhibition at the Dolphin Leisure Centre. Our stand is located along the rear wall in the centre of this view, though it would probably have been better received at the station.

(below) 2016 is also the 30th anniversary of the foundation of Network SouthEast. The Network SouthEast Society's celebratory headboard is fixed to the front of 1001 for one of the later trips to Ardingly.
