Bachmann 2 EPB 5764 - click to view larger picture Announced in January 2009 to follow on from their 4Ceps, the first version 31-375 in BR blue appeared mid May 2011. It is a very finely detailed model, this version only being spoiled by traces of white glue around the windows, but more significantly the cars being numbered the wrong way around . (BR(S) unit convention 6nnnn = motor car, 7nnnn = unpowered car). However, Bachmann quickly promised to rectify this. Which commendably they did with a subsequent correct production run and supplying replacement bodies for the first run.

The end of July 2011 saw the final regular production version go on sale - a BR blue & grey Network SouthEast version as unit 6238 featuring high intensity headlights and red compartment warning stripes.

October 2016 saw the next blue & grey version released - costing approximately 140% more than five years earlier - 31-380 unit 6262 again branded for Network SouthEast but without high intensty headlights and no red stripes. Also contrary to some listings, it is not factory fitted with passengers.

The second special edition to be issued (in September 2011), of unit 6225 in late Network SouthEast livery, was produced to celebrate the 25th anniversary of NSE and is only available to members of the Bachmann Collectors Club. As is the bue and grey version, it is branded for the "Kent Link" sub-sector and it correctly features high intensity headlights.

The 30th anniversary of NSE saw the release of the "Capital Commuter" train pack (30-430), which includes unit 6414 in early NSE livery, plus a low Art-Deco relief station building and two platform sections, plus reproductions of NSE paperwork. This unit is also sub-branded for Kent Link but does not have a high intensity headlight. Strangely the train pack is priced at about £8 less than the blue & grey version issued around the same time, yet you get far more!
