American Express Community Stadium, Falmer
377139 calls at Falmer with the 16:25 Seaford to Brighton on 16th July 2011

On Saturday 16th July the inaugural match at the American Express Community Stadium, Falmer, was held. (Brighton & Hove Albion 2 -  Eastbourne Borough 0).  put on an impressive show with their public transport provision into the station, where facilities have been enhanced to be able to accommodate crowds.

377445 at Falmer on the 16:58 Lewes to Brighton on 16th July 2011 377445 at Falmer on the 16:58 Lewes to Brighton.  The huge footbridge has been built to accommodate football crowds.  Access to the platform is restricted to the number of passengers who can be accommodated on the next train.  The crowd outside the fence will not be boarding this service.

313206 runs into Falmer with the 16:58 Seaford to Brighton on 16th July 2011 Oh dear, if the website is to be believed, this should have been a 377!  313206 runs into Falmer with the 16:58 Seaford to Brighton.  It left extremely full.  The old station footbridge was taped out of use, but provided a good vantage point for railway officials in charge of operations.

Six car 313, 313213+214 forming the 17:30 Falmer to Brighton on 16th July 2011 The additional 17:30 Falmer to Brighton was formed of 313213 and 313214.  The 16th of July was, almost certainly, the first occasion on which passenger trains have started from Falmer. Also note does not normally operate six-coach class 313 passenger services.  This photograph shows shows passengers being admitted to platform 2 as soon as the previous service towards Lewes had departed.
