East Croydon Redevelopment: New Western Entrance Open
![]() |
The western entrance to the new footbridge at East Croydon was opened between 15:00 and 15:30 on Thursday 5th December 2013. The opening ceremony was performed by Mike Fisher, the leader of Croydon Council, Croydon mayor Yvette Hopley, together with Chris Burchell Southern's Managing Director. The boarding to the right covers the stairs to a segregated part of the bridge which will provide public pedestrian access to Cherry Orchard Road. This will not be completed until redevelopment work in Cherry Orchard road, which is yet to start, is under way. The first three pictures on this page were taken on the day after the official opening. photograph by Lester Hayes |
