Flush D'Or Railtour

cd423590_2.jpg (33545 bytes) Whilst awaiting departure from Deal there was time to reflect upon the overlapping eras seen from the end of the down platform - a Mk. 1 EMU, modern speed restriction sign, rail-post semaphore signal and in the distance by the modern full barrier level crossing a Southern Railway type "glasshouse" signal box

3590 pauses very briefly at Chislehurst
Above: The second reversal of the day was in platform 4 at Chislehurst where modern station "furniture" is much in evidence. The station was reached from the Chatham lines via the reversible Chatham loop. This reversal did not require passengers to de-train. The special departed the way it arrived but at Otford Junction  took the down Bat & Ball line to reach Sevenoaks. Note travelling from Ashford to Ore not via Rye was achieved via London Travelcard zone 5
