<>With the commencement of the new timetable on December 9th South West Trains ceased operating to Brighton, this being a requirement of their new franchise. The Reading-Brighton and Brighton-Paignton services were the casualties, the latter being the final vestige of an enthusiasts' favourite - the Southern Railway's Brighton-Plymouth service.

The last working from Brighton was the 21:40 service to Salisbury on 8th December 2007 worked by unit 159016. This unit arrived late at 21:23 having been diverted via St. Denys with the last working to Brighton from Reading (departing at 19:02) but the last departure was right-time.
